Karen Clum is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner specializing in general psychiatry across the lifespan. She brings two decades of experience in psychotherapeutic and pharmacologic management to Well Within. She most recently worked as an advanced provider at Saribalas Clinic, an established adult psychiatric and sleep medicine practice in central Ohio, as well as Thompkins Treatment, a child and adolescent community mental health center. While she maintains her real education comes from seeing patients, she prepared for clinical practice with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, all of the clinical coursework for a Master's in clinical counseling, and a Master of Science degree in Nursing. Prior to her NP role, she has worked in a variety of settings in both the public and private sector, from cancer research to education. She has a proven entrepreneurial spirit, starting the charter school Columbus Bilingual Academy (originally VIA Academy), establishing Franklin County Crossroads, a dropout recovery program for at-risk high school students in central Ohio, and ultimately founding Well Within.
Kristen Mizumoto is a board certified Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She grew up in Cleveland and graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan. After graduation, she worked at a homeless shelter in Chicago before going back to nursing school and getting her RN degree from Case Western. Kristen practiced as an oncology nurse for two years before choosing to pursue her passion in mental health and obtaining her Masters of Science as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Chicago. Prior to joining Well Within, Kristen has provided psychiatric care and medication management for over 10 years in the community mental health setting. She enjoys treating a variety of mental health concerns and strongly believes that the power of therapy along with medication can help her patients achieve optimal mental health. She values each patient's voice in their care and believes that your goals regarding your mental health are the foundation of your recovery and ultimate success.
Evan Silverland is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner providing care to patients of all ages. He grew up in Detroit and attended earned his undergraduate degree at Indiana University where he studied psychology. After graduation, he taught snowboarding to children and adolescents in Breckenridge, Colorado (a lifelong dream). He and his wife moved to Columbus in 2016 where he began his Masters of Science in Nursing program at The Ohio State University. While in school, Evan worked at OSU Harding Hospital, as both psychiatric care technician, and as a nurse. After finishing the program, he began working at an outpatient mental health office in Worthington, providing psychiatric care and medication management to individuals of all ages with a wide range of conditions, including those with autism spectrum and other developmental disabilities. Evan’s passion has always been in mental health and helping individuals lead happier, healthier lives. He feels the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship cannot be overstated. While he recognizes medication can be a beneficial treatment for many, he strongly believes a holistic approach is key to lasting, positive change.
Jenna Birdsell is a board certified child and adolescent psychiatric clinical nurse specialist and board certified pediatric nurse practitioner. Jenna received her BA in Elementary Education and then spent 10 years learning child development at home with her 4 children. She then went back to school and completed 2 advanced practice nursing programs (Pediatrics and Child and Adolescent Psychiatric/Mental Health) at OSU. Since graduation, Jenna has worked in primary care and community mental health. She is an alumni of the National Health Service Corps, has worked with children in the foster care system and intensive psychiatric care programs, and is adjunct faculty at OSU, precepting student nurse practitioners. Jenna believes in an approach to care that involves shared decision-making with the child/adolescent through an approach that is warm and validating.
Rebecca Weiser is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who sees patients across the lifespan. She is a two time graduate of the Ohio State University where she completed her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing.
Rebecca worked as an RN in pediatric primary care and inpatient adult psychiatry before working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Prior to joining Well Within she provided psychiatric care and medication management for over 8 years to children, high risk youth, and young adults in community mental health settings. She is a passionate mental health advocate and enjoys providing clinical training to student psychiatric nurse practitioners and medical students.
Rebecca partners with her patients and their families to deliver evidence based, compassionate care. She believes in the importance of a strong therapeutic partnership and providing psychoeducation to her patients about their mental health and treatment options. Rebecca considers it a privilege to hear each individual’s story while supporting their journey to wellness.
